How Do I Clean My Horizontal Blinds?

I live in an apartment and we have horizontal fake wood blinds. The slats are about an inch and a half thick. The blinds themselves are very heavy and we live near a street so they get super dusty. Just dusting them doesn’t seem to get them as clean as I would like. What is the easiest way to clean them?

Put them in the tub…or shower…simply take a brush &/or rag & wipe them down with a mixture in a buket of hot water…Dawn dish-soap[few drops] & vinegar…flip to other side & wipe again…then lift up & left the shower head rinse them…lay them over the tub edge on towels to drip dry…then hang back up! If you can’t do them outside on a patio or concrete area that is the best alternative…I have done it many times! Take care!

  2. Maybe you need a better duster. I use a thick duster that is used on cars. I bought it at an auto parts store. You may need to soap and water it or simple green and sprung it first to get to greasy stuff off first. hope this helps.

My mom uses a piece of cloth soaked with gasoline with water, or something like that, and wipes them.

Try vacuuming or using a microfibre cloth.

We just took ours to the power wash (for cars) and made sure to dry off the working parts real well…now they’re beautiful!

You may try Mint’s(one of the answerer) mother’s way and see what happens.

  7. Put them in the tub and wash them. Drip dry and hang them back up. We do it regularly.
